More couples are choosing the “First-Look” photography for their Wedding. The long time traditional practice of the couple not seeing each other until the walk down the aisle has become more of a good-luck superstition and certainly many couples are still sticking to it, while others are opting for a “First- Look” for reasons that range from easing nerves to making sure they have plenty of time to join cocktail hour. As your wedding day approaches you’re probably wondering whether you want first-look wedding photos or whether you want to wait until you walk down the aisle for your big reveal?

The photographers are doing amazing shots of the couples today and their “First-Look”. These shots are more personalized which the walk down the aisle would not offer. This allows you to have most of your family pictures taken prior to the ceremony. It also allows you more time to be a part of your guests’ experience during cocktail hour or time before the introduction and first dance to have some personal time to yourselves with a special drink and hors d’Oeuvres.

The beauty of the “First- Look” is you can control where photos will be taken without being confined to the ceremony surroundings such as a nearby beach, waterway or perhaps a historic site.

If you are having a wedding during the winter season photographers love doing the “First- Look” to take advantage of the daylight.

A first look definitely does not spoil the ceremony and if anything it may enhance the day since you will have more time to visit with your family and friends.

You will need to start earlier with your hair and make-up because even with the best of planning, timelines can run into delays and cause you to rush through your photos in order to keep guests from waiting to see you walk down the aisle.

You may need to allow time after the “First-Look” photo shoot to freshen up hair/makeup before ceremony, especially if it is a warm time of year.
